Dear Friends,

Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach started its journey to becoming a high performing and effective non-profit over 26 years ago.  With the support of our passionate donors, staff and volunteers, we continue to ask a critical question – are we a resource destination for all needs of cancer patients and their families?

Your amazing support has gotten us where we are today, and now we are looking to explore and expand our comprehensive programs by taking the next step.  We understand that creating a place for cancer patients and their families to belong is wonderful, but not good enough.  Our board and staff realize that our cancer patients and their families need more in our mission of support, education and hope. We have engaged in a systemic cycle of research, action, tracking and utilization of data for continuous improvement to deliver our expansive program of education, social and emotional support, exercise and nutrition for both the cancer patients and their loved ones.

We are so excited that we are now including the often overlooked demographic of children affected by cancer.  And we have a long way to go.   Kids represent our future, especially while enduring the care and support of their siblings, parents and loved ones during their treatment and beyond.  Our weekly programs will not only bring them strength in their current time of need, but establish a firm foundation of perspective to take with them as they mature into adulthood and to then better influence those around them.  Kids are scared that their loved ones may die.  After participating in our Kids Community, they learn how to share those fears and feel hope and joy again.

While you have heard it before, this truly is a most important year for your support.   Please help us continue to provide our free services … So That No One Faces Cancer Alone.

Sincerely,

Judith K. Opdahl
